Staff spotlight: Dana Palazzo

Chexology’s culture isn’t carved in stone; it grows organically from the character of each member of our team. Together, we make up a close-knit company of individuals from all walks of life. One of those team members is Lindsey Parker!

Dana Palazzo

What’s your role @ Chexology? Not just your title, what do you do?

Engineer

I'm an engineer, so my role is to bring to life and build the ideas and concepts of our business.

Where do you work?

I work from home in Bloomington, Indiana

Tell us about your family (Spouse/Kids/Significant Other/Etc.)

I have a fiancée, Tyler. He is an entrepreneur and has his own business called Ziptility. The rest of my family lives in Youngstown, Ohio (I have a sister, brother in law and beautiful niece Charlotte with one more on the way!).

Cookie!

Do you have pets?

We just got a new puppy named Cookie! She is a sweetheart and.. one smart cookie! :)

Tell us a little about your background. What brought you to Chexology?

I changed careers after almost a decade in economic development and completed a full-stack bootcamp through General Assembly to become a developer. I started my engineering career with Fretless, the consultancy that eventually became the development team at Chexology!

The important stuff

What is your favorite food?

Hardest question of all time. I have to say cavatelli in my grandma's sauce is probably the best thing I've ever eaten.

What’s the #1 most played song on your playlist?

Oh boy... probably something by Kayne or Kygo or Whitney Houston.. haha!

What is one of your favorite quotes?

I studied abroad in Madrid and made a friend who introduced me to a musician named Chambao. One of her songs has lyrics that go like this:

“Poquito a poco entendiendo

Que no vale la pena andar por andar

Que es mejor caminar pa' ir creciendo”

I'm by no means fluent in Spanish, but the way I understand it translated is:

“Little by little I'm realizing

That it's not worth walking just to walk

That it's better to walk in order to grow”

That has always stuck with me.

What’s your favorite hobby or activity?

Cooking for others with gardening as a close second.

What chore do you absolutely hate doing?

Washing dishes

What is your favorite form of exercise?

Playing a sport with a team!

What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?

I love a cool night at dusk by a campfire when it's just fall and the leaves are turning colors. That's good stuff right there!

If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and what would it be for?

I'd host a big dinner with all of my favorite people and make a fabulous spread of food with good music and the goal would be to eat, drink, and be merry with each other! :)

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? And why?

Mother Teresa. I feel like being near her energy would be such a great feeling. I would hope to learn some of her patience and compassion and kindness.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

Buy a big house for my parents and take my whole family on vacation!

If you were guaranteed success, what profession would you do for the rest of your life?

Chef!

What is your favorite part about working at Chexology?

I love that I feel challenged to bring my best and at the same time supported while I do it.

Of note:

Dana is modest. She was recently named to the Fast 15 Awards for Business, recognizing Bloomington’s fastest-growing businesses and MVP employees. Check out more here.
